Bricks | Hats | Gems | Green Gems
1 | Great Pyramid | 1-10 | 100,000 | - | - | -
Although it was always presumed that the Pharaoh known as Cheops was buried in the largest of he Great Pyramids, no mummy - or any mention of Cheops at all - has ever been discovered in the pyramid.
2 | Great Sphinx | 11-20 | 220,000 | - | - | -
In 1920, famed clairvoyant Edgar Cayce claimed there was a secret hiding place containing the words of a highly sophisticated civilization buried under the Sphinx's paw. Oddly enough, a small hollow compartment under the Sphinx was recently discovered.
3 | Step Pyramid of Djoser | 21-30 | 290,000 | - | - | 2
The ancient pyramid rises 176 feet in the air - essentially making it the world's first skyscraper.
4 | Saladin Citadel | 31-40 | 330,000 | - | - | 2
King Louis-Philip of France famously traded the Saladin Citadel clock for a temple obelisk. Sadly, the clock has never worked - although it's still right twice a day.
5 | Ramesses II Statue | 41-50 | 350,000 | 270,000 | - | 2
One of the titles of Ramesses II - Strong Bull - is said to be a reference to his fertility. It's an apt reference, since he is thought to have fathered more than 200 children.
6 | Egyptian Museum | 51-60 | 370,000 | 320,000 | - | 2
In 1974, the museum sent the mummy of Pharaoh Ramesses II to France for restoration with a modern Egyptian passport. His occupation field was labeled: King (dead).
7 | Sakakini Palace | 61-70 | 390,000 | 350,000 | - | 2
The palace was built by an ambitious Egyptian named Gabriel Habib Sakakini, who was taken by a similar palace in France. Ironically, the copy outlasted the original - which is now in ruins.
8 | Bab-Zuveila Gates | 71-80 | 400,000 | 370,000 | - | 2
Legend has it that a healing saint's spirit lives behind a wooden door and cures those who come in pilgrimage. Apparently the saint has a lot to chew on - over the centuries supplicants have studded the door with teeth as offerings.
9 | Mosque of Ibn Tulun | 81-90 | 420,000 | 390,000 | 310,000 | 2
The beautiful mosque made a splash in Hollywood. It was famously used as a location in the James Bond film, "The Spy Who Loved Me."
10 | Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassa | 91-100 | 430,000 | 440,000 | 330,000 | 2
The beautiful 14th century mosque took three years to build. In a move that might have been controversial, the Sultan spent nearly the entire state treasury on the project.
11 | Cairo Nilometer | 101-110 | 450,000 | 450,000 | 360,000 | 2
The predictor for the river's behaviour dates back to 715, when the Nile's water flow was literally life or death: A weak flow might mean starvation, while a strong flow could equal a catastrophic flood.
12 | Cairo Tower | 111-120 | 500,000 | 520,000 | 430,000 | 2
The high tower was built to be a TV tower, but it was never put to use. Residents still enjoy viewing, however. The tower features a popular restaurant and a sight-seeing area. |
