Bricks | Hats | Gems | Green Gems
1 | Honolulu Zoo | 1-10 | 90,000 | - | - | -
If you tire of enjoying the perfect sand and sparkling waters of the famous Waikiki Beach, take a walk on the wild side - the nearby Honolulu Zoo offers 1,200 varieties of mammals to explore.
2 | Na Pali Coast State Park | 11-20 | - | - | -
The park's magnificent 15 miles of cliffs and beaches have been the location for such Hollywood heavy-hitters as King King and Jurassic Park. However, no giant apes or dinosaurs have ever been spotted in the area.
3 | Polynesian Cultural Center | 21-30 | 250,000 | - | - | -
The living museum is so expansive; it features 8 tropical villages, the annual World Fire Dance competition (complete with blazing swords), and a vast lagoon for guided canoe tours.
4 | Lanikai Beach | 31-40 | 280,000 | - | - | -
With a name that translates to "heavenly sea", it's no wonder that this small beach is considered one of the best in the world. It's also one of the most expensive places to illegally park.Block one of the residential structures around it, and you'll be out $200
5 | Pearl Harbor | 41-50 | 200,000 | - | 5
The landmark site offers a number of historical attractions for visitors, including the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum. It's best to go with freshly-showered friends - the WWII submarine features tight quarters and no air-conditioning.
6 | Waikiki Aquarium | 51-60 | 380,000 | 270,000 | - | 5
The aquarium was devised by the Honolulu Rapid Transit and Land Company to show the varied life of sea creatures in Hawaii. The company even transferred a mere clerk named Frederick A. Potter to become the first director in 1904. But Potter's lack of a degree in marine biology didn't hinder him - he managed the aquarium to world-class status till 1940.
7 | Iolani Palace | 61-70 | 420,000 | 320,000 | - | 5
The only Royal Palace in the United States has the distinction of employing electricity 4 years before the White House, Windsor Palace, or the Imperial Palace of Japan. It was also the first palace in the world to install flush toilets.
8 | Molokini | 71-80 | 470,000 | 370,000 | - | 4
This peaceful diving spot offers tourists a remarkably clear view of numerous fish, coral, Green Sea Turtles, and bottleneck dolphins. It wasn't always serene, however - it was formed 230,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption.
9 | Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden | 81-90 | 480,000 | 420,000 | 250,000 | 4
You'll find a Money Tree among the hundreds of species in this natural rainforest. Sadly, dollars don't literally grow on it - so don't count on a visit to the Botanical Garden to pay for your tropical vacation.
10 | Rainbow Falls | 91-100 | 520,000 | 480,000 | 320,000 | 4
According to legend, King Kamehameha buried the bones of his father in an alcove behind the falls. It might have been a bit crowded, since a competing legend insists that Hina, mother of Maui, lived in the same alcove.
11 | Hanauma Bay | 101-110 | 590,000 | 570,000 | 450,000 | 6
If Hanauma Bay looks familiar, it might be from more than dreams of paradise. The location has starred in Elvis Presley's Blue Hawaii, as well as TV's Hawaii Five-O and Magnum, P.I.
12 | Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park | 111-120 | 690,000 | 680,000 | 660,000 | 5
This massive park is home to Kilauea, known as "the world's only drive-in volcano." The active volcano flows 250,000-650,000 cubic yards of lava daily. This is enough to resurface a 20-mile-long, two-lane road, although it might be difficult to find workers willing to do so. |
