Monuments[]
# | Monument | Levels | Requirement | Image | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bricks | Hats | Gems | Green Gems | ||||
1 | Railway Station | 1-10 | 80,000 | - | - | - | |
This eastern terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railroad was rebuilt in 1912 to match the Yaroslavsky Station in Moscow, a mere 5,772 miles away. This might have been designed to help travelers forget how shockingly far they had traveled. | |||||||
2 | Ocean Cinema Theater | 11-20 | 180,000 | - | - | - | |
The venue houses the annual film festival, showcasing films from all over the Far East. The Yul Brynner Award, named for Vladivostok native and Hollywood legend, is awarded to the most promising young actor or actress. | |||||||
3 | GUM | 21-30 | 205,000 | - | - | 4 | |
This once proudly soviet Art Deco building is now a virtual monument to capitalism, featuring a broad range of souvenirs and other treasures for purchase. | |||||||
4 | Submarine S-56 | 31-40 | 220,000 | - | - | - | |
The WWII Pacific Fleet sub was converted into a monument in 1975. To do so, the hull had to be cut up and welded back together - rendering her truly "unsinkable." | |||||||
5 | Vladivostok State Circus | 41-50 | 250,000 | 190,000 | - | 3 | |
Many rare objects were uncovered during a recent renovation of the circus, including a copy of Tolstoy's "War and Peace" and old records of the famous Russian bard Vladimir Vysotsky. No word on if the animals enjoyed this bit of culture, too. | |||||||
6 | Cable Railway | 51-60 | 280,000 | 250,000 | - | 4 | |
You can either take the railway up and down the very steep slope of Orlinaya Hill or climb on foot. The 400-step staircase built into the hill is unsurprisingly called "the Ladder of Health." | |||||||
7 | Golden Bridge | 61-70 | 320,000 | 280,000 | - | 30 | |
The bridge design proved controversial, with fans claiming the unique "V"-shape stood for "Vladivostok" or "Victory - and detractors insisting it was the Devil's horns. | |||||||
8 | Opera Theater | 71-80 | 360,000 | 320,000 | - | 3 | |
The ultra-modern performance center is admired for hi-tech acoustical design, including a unique ceiling without any metal parts. No word on if the theater's ghosts were disgruntled that there was nothing for them to clank in the rafters. | |||||||
9 | Russian Bridge | 81-90 | 420,000 | 360,000 | 130,000 | 5 | |
The 1104-meter bridge was engineered so the infamous Vladivostok winds would not blow it into Eastern Bosphorus strait. A lightweight sports car might still be a challenge. | |||||||
10 | Far Eastern Federal University | 91-100 | 480,000 | 410,000 | 190,000 | 3 | |
Students share this beautiful rural campus with a unique breed of friendly, wild foxes. The students tame the foxes and the foxes get fed - creating a singular ecosystem. | |||||||
11 | Voroshilov Gun Battery | 101-110 | 500,000 | 450,000 | 220,000 | 4 | |
In the past, lookouts telegraphed the gun crew the coordinates needed to fire massive artillery weapons. The gun crew then manually aimed the 90-ton turret at the target with crossed fingers and a prayer - sight unseen. | |||||||
12 | Aquarium | 111-120 | 560,000 | 520,000 | 390,000 | 4 | |
Pacific marine mammals are the stars of this sea show. Misha, the walrus, does pull-ups, seals sing together, and dolphins perform water ballet in perfectly synchronized arcs. |
